2 alleged house robbers nabbed after Tshwane high-speed chase

Two robbers, who tried to outrun law enforcement officials, were apprehended with suspected stolen goods and a firearm in their possession.

Two suspects are behind bars after security services foiled a house robbery in Zwartkop, Tshwane, on Friday.

According to Monitor Net spokesperson JP Le Roux, security officers from Fidelity ADT surprised the suspects during a house robbery at 14:00.

Various security services and the SAPS worked together as the suspects attempted to evade arrest.

Tshwane SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Duane Lightfoot says information was received about a house robbery in progress and multiple units and security services intervened to stop the suspects.

“Upon arrival by security members, the suspects fled and a high-speed chase ensued.

“Advanced tactical measures were conducted due to severe reckless driving and the vehicle was eventually stopped on Wierda Road,” says Lightfoot.

Police detained the suspects, who were found with suspected stolen goods in their possession.

Lightfoot says a firearm was found in the vehicle, along with a TV, laptops and jewellery. The vehicle was also seized.

“The suspects are detained at Wierdabrug SAPS and a thorough investigation will be done to see if the suspects can be linked to other crimes.”

They will appear in court in due course, says Lightfoot.
