1 arrested following Broadacres shoot-out, another believed dead

Members of the public were urged to avoid parts of Pine Road in Fourways after a confrontation between armed suspects and security guards at a residential complex.

An incident involving shots being fired was reported early this morning in Broadacres, Fourways.

Fourways Review reports that, according to the Gauteng Provincial Joint Operations Centre, the incident occurred at or near a residential complex along Pine Road, between Frederick Road and Lombardy Road, at approximately 07:35.

Law enforcement and private security services responded swiftly, and the scene was declared active while operations were underway.

An eyewitness at the scene, Maj Saffari, reported that three suspects allegedly attempted to gain access to a residential complex while posing as surveyors. “The security guards then tried to scare them, which led to a shoot-out between the suspects and security personnel.”

Ward 94 councillor David Foley urged residents to remain cautious and to prioritise their safety as this is the second incident in that spot in the last month. “The suspects are at large, with the community policing forum and police are searching for them. Please avoid that side if you can, and use Cedar Road.

While one suspect arrested, another was classified as ‘P4’, which usually means deceased, or a patient beyond help in medical triage, indicating no signs of life.

At the time of publishing, the public was advised to avoid Pine Road between Frederick Road and Lombardy Road until the area is declared safe.
