This dessert is bound to become one of your go-to treats when you’re craving something that’s simple to make but still looks impressive. It’s a perfect mix of smooth, creamy milk jelly, sweet syrup-soaked strawberries, and a little touch of rosewater that adds a delicate, fragrant twist. The best part? It sets much faster than traditional jelly, so you won’t have to wait around forever – more time to enjoy the good stuff! We love using grape jelly because it gives the dessert a bright pop of colour, but feel free to swap it for strawberry or raspberry jelly if you prefer.
Ingredients
- 1 Box jelly (raspberry, strawberry or grape)
- 500 Milk
- 50 g Icing sugar
- Pine nuts (for garnish)
- 1 tsp Rose water
- 6 Syrup strawberries
- Honey (optional)
Method
- Follow the instructions on the box to prepare your jelly. Once it’s done, set it aside to cool slightly.
- In a small saucepan, gently heat the milk until it starts to steam. Then turn the heat off, so it’s warm but not boiling.
- Whisk the cooled jelly into the warm milk, one spoonful at a time, making sure it dissolves fully. Add the icing sugar and rosewater, then stir to combine. Let this mixture cool to room temperature.
- Pour the mixture into your dessert mould and refrigerate for a few hours, or until it sets.
- Once the jelly has set, top it with your syrup-soaked strawberries and a sprinkle of crunchy pine nuts.
Top tip: To make the strawberry syrup, slice strawberries into halves. In a small saucepan, heat a tablespoon of honey (optional) and simmer the strawberries for a few minutes until they soften.
