Three Way Tour: Amapiano and gqom in perfect harmony

Zintle Kwaaiman, CA MA GU and Avela Mvalo are collaborating to bridge the gap between amapiano and gqom.

South African rising stars Zintle Kwaaiman, CA MA GU and Avela Mvalo have joined forces on a tour named ‘Three Way Tour’, which will kick start at the beginning of April.

Three Way Tour is a tour carried by amapiano and gqom with aims to bridge the gap between these two musical worlds.

The name of the tour is a term of endearment that when used in the context of music describes a link between a vocalist (Zintle) and producers and DJ (CA MA GU and Avela).

“We wanted to do something really special. Things didn’t immediately fall into place, meeting after meeting, putting all the pieces together and coming up with a structure that worked for all parties, ”said one of the talents’ managers.

The other one said: “As much as it may seem like an unexpected collaboration, it also feels so natural. It just makes sense considering who, what, and where the artists represent. An unsurprising surprise. Really excited to witness how South Africa responds to this project.”

“When our ancestors speak, our duty is to listen and respond. This collaboration was orchestrated in the spiritual realm. It was supposed to happen and to give healing to our people. We have already started working on new music with hopes that people will receive it with excitement,” said CA MA GU.

When asked about the tour, Zintle explained: “I believe this is going to [be] an awakening call to the masses in the industry especially women, just to show that the pie is [not] too big for everyone, to show we are powerful too in this male dominated industry, also to show that working together can really push us further than working alone.

“We are initially hoping that the world sees that we are pushing women empowerment and putting a stamp of ‘imbokodo’ in this industry. We can all do it,” she added.
