Siya Kolisi speaks on his injury and having negative thoughts

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi reveals how he is battling fear as he starts his recovery journey following a knee injury he suffered in April while playing in the United Rugby Championship.

Siya Kolisi has been home recovering following a knee injury he sustained while playing for the Sharks last month. The Springbok captain who announced his move to to France after the Rugby World Cup, to join Racing 92 later this year, took to his Instagram to share information on his recovery.

Before the update, the father of two started by quoting a verse from the bible, sharing; “John 15:2 “ He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

He then spoke of his injury and surgery, adding, “After my injury and surgery, I struggled with doubts, had many questions, and my peace was unsettled. Negative thoughts threatened to consume me because my focus was on the problem. A shift came in me when I realised that in times of uncertainty, it is important to keep my gaze on the things that are unchanging. I’ve been intentionally keeping my focus on God, the one who is in control. I’ve learnt to trust that this is a time of pruning, shaping me to be stronger and more resilient.”

“I still have tough moments on this journey, but I embrace the future, full of potential and hope, focusing on what truly matters.”

Finishing off by wishing his friends and followers “a great Sunday .”

Commenters poured love and support to the World Cup winning captain, reminding him of how great he is, they shared;

“And that post – right there – makes you the leader we so deeply respect! A Captain amongst captains indeed!”

Another user shared, “You are so respected and admired Siya as a Captain, Father, Husband, Humanitarian and all round awesome person. We need you so badly for the RWC. The whole of SA is behind you and willing you on every step of the way through all the ups and downs.
