TikTok influencer changes his name
The TikTok star said his main objective is to inspire his followers and make a difference in the world.
One of South Africa’s most popular TikTok influencers, Roberto de Gouveia (better known by fans as K1ngBert0 or @k1ngbert0), has made the decision to start the new year with a brand-new name.
“I believe my true self is getting lost behind my current persona because people always assume I am super arrogant for calling myself ‘king’,” the Parkrand resident explained about changing his name to @iam_roberto_.
“The opposite is true. I don’t consider myself better than anyone else and I do not have an ego for having a social media following.
“So much has changed in my life this last month and I want to make 2022 the start of something extraordinary!
“When people meet me in person, they always end up saying I am a much nicer person than they thought I was.
“I did not like the fact that I was coming across as arrogant and unapproachable.
“I am hoping the new name will change people’s perception that I am this arrogant guy with no personality.”
The 27-year-old sneaker lover, pizza devotee, tech enthusiast and role model, who has worked with major brands like Lamborghini, POPL, Levi’s, Starbucks, Universal Music and Samsung, has a following of 1.1 million on TikTok and close to 50 000 on Instagram.
He believes his new username will only have a positive impact on his online popularity.
“I think the only challenge will be to get people to remember that I am not K1ngbert0 anymore, so I aim to get them to start searching my new username.
“I plan on posting a lot more this year, so I think eventually people will get used to the name and it should take fairly quick,” he said.
According to the gifted content creator, he was forced to close his business because of the pandemic and has since decided to pursue his social media career full-time.
“I am working on my health and fitness and am in the process of kickstarting my YouTube channel.
“I want to keep myself as busy as possible with the things I am most passionate about.”
De Gouveia was born and raised in Germiston/Boksburg by a single mother with whom he still has a close relationship.
He attended Rynfield Primary School and matriculated from Benoni High School.
Initially, he intended to upload TikTok videos as a way to pass the time, but when one of his first videos went viral, he found himself in the role of social media influencer and soon realised people wanted to hear what he has to say… and the rest is history.
The TikTok star said he wants to die with memories, not dreams, and still has many plans for the future, including being in the position to buy his mother the car and house of her dreams someday because she has been such an amazing source of support to him throughout his life.
But for now, he is focusing on the present.
He concluded that his main objective is to inspire his followers and make a difference in the world.
“If only one person says I inspired them to change or achieve something, I am happy. All I want to do is leave a legacy of hope and good vibes. I want to spread the goodness.”
