TV weekly must watch

We’ve rounded up three great shows you should keep an eye out for this week. Start with a documentary with exclusive interviews and archival footage about a seven-time Formula 1 champion. Then watch a love story based on a best-selling novel that follows a couple over several years as they embark on an on-again/off-again romance. Or watch a local culinary showdown between amateur cooks.

Schumacher is an upcoming sports documentary film co-directed by Hanns-Bruno Kammertöns, Vanessa Nöcker, and Michael Wech, about the German Formula One racing driver Michael Schumacher. The documentary will be released on September 15 on Netflix, coinciding with Schumacher’s entry into Formula One, 30 years ago.

Based on Sally Rooney’s best-selling novel, Normal People is an exquisite, modern love story about how one person can unexpectedly change another person’s life and about how complicated intimacy can be. It follows Marianne and Connell over several years, as they embark on an on-again/off-again romance that starts at school and continues through college, both testing their relationship as they explore different versions of themselves. Season 1 is now showing on Showmax.

Join local singing and cooking sensation J’Something and award-winning chef David Higgs for the South African version of My Kitchen Rules. Foodie duos invite the chefs and their competitors into their kitchens. Starting September 19 on M-Net, DStv channel 101.
