WIN! Wonderboom to rock at the Saturday Social Club

The previous events at the Saturday Social Club have seen the likes of Prime Circle, Dirty Moonshine, Six String Stories, Polisiekar, Sweet Resistance and 4am taking to the stage.

The Saturday Social Club has an electric line-up planned for the third installation of this rocking music series.

The next show, taking place on August 4 at the Red Roman Shed at Emperors Palace, will feature The Narrow, Wonderboom, Newtown Knife Gang and SDO.

After 22 years, nine albums, multiple awards and a lifetime of experiences behind them, Wonderboom are still going strong as one of South Africa’s most legendary rock bands.

Best-known for their fundamental rock sound, the band has surprised listeners over the years by experimenting with different genres, ranging from funk through to punk and even afro-dance, but it is their live performances that continue to captivate audiences.

The recent release of their ninth album, Rising Sun, after a lengthy hiatus – it’s been seven years since the release of their last album – signalled the start of something very special, and Wonderboom is now set to unleash their brand new single, Praying Mantis.

Nic Rush is a successful musician straight from Boksburg.

Also on the bill is Boksburg’s own Nic Rush, who is a resident of Ravenswood.

From 2003 to 2011 Rush was the lead guitarist for Watershed, which earned him three gold and two platinum record awards after playing on every major festival stage in South Africa and undertaking numerous overseas tours.

From 2011 to 2013 Nic played the guitar in Brent Harris and Thee Jam and in 2013 he was offered a position at The Barnyard Theatre Company as a musical director, lead guitarist and vocalist.

Nic will be launching his career as an original artist later this year.

The Saturday Social Club is a newly launched series of music concerts that will be taking place at its home base at the Red Roman Shed. Presented by Rush Productions, the events will host a mix of some of South Africa’s best musical talents, both established and up-and-coming.
