Local gospel choir releases debut album

A local gospel group, Chisomo Boksburg CCAP, has recently released its debut album, titled Nkhondo Siyathu, which means the battle is not ours.

The group, with some members originally hailing from Malawi, aims to win souls to Christ through their unique music, which they believe is inspirational and motivational.

Most of the songs on the album are sung in Chichewa and English.

The group was established in April 2015 with just six members. It has since expanded by six.

Aubrey Mollen, the chairman of the group, said the journey had its ups and downs but they are glad that they remained faithful and finished the album.

“Some of the challenges we have faced as a group are financial in nature. Most of our choir members are unemployed so we have been struggling to get funds to pay the studio for the recordings of the songs.

“I’m overjoyed that regardless of the challenges, we have managed to support one other and push harder to launch the album,” Mollen said.

The Boksburg-based group has performed in various churches around Johannesburg.

“Nkhondo Siyathu is already on the market and we are expecting greater things. People will love our album as we have catered for young and old.

“By listening to the songs, people will receive their spiritual deliverance and breakthroughs.”
