Renowned music legends set to rock revellers at Birchwood Jazz Christmas Party

Legendary South African jazz musician Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse and Ray Chikapa Phiri will be rocking jazz lovers at Birchwood Hotel’s Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Festival.

The eagerly awaited event, deemed to be “the Christmas Party of the Year”, will be held at Birchwood Hotel on December 9.

The Birchwood Jazz Evening is set to take guests on a musical journey from the 1970s through to today’s modern jazz forms.

In addition to the two headliners, the event will also feature Louis Mhlanga, the multiple-award-winning saxophonist McCoy Mrubata and songstress Nokukhanya Dlamini, who is back by popular demand for the evening.

“In the last show of the year, Birchwood Hotel has pulled out all the stops to give guests a line-up of performances to remember.

“Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse and Ray Chikapa Phiri are well known by audiences, regardless of age or generation.

“Hit singles Burn Out and Weekend Special are still firm favourites in the broadcast industry and in many homes,” said Urban House Media’s Tegan Mitchell.

Each month, the Birchwood Jazz Evening invites upcoming artists to open the evening’s festivities and highlight emerging local talent.

This month, The Levites will be opening the evening’s festivities with their Afro-soul sounds and captivating performances on stage.

A new twist will be added to the December Jazz Evening: a surprise musician will be joining the evening to provide extra time for guests to enjoy themselves on the dance floor.

As usual the host, Hector Motivator, will usher the evening with his usual antics.

Guests will be provided with a delicious three-course meal, including two complimentary bottles of wine, and lots of Christmas giveaways.

The evening starts at 8pm.
