Skeem Saam local actress looks at the brighter side of life (Watch video)

Lerato Marabe, who plays the character of Pretty Seakamela on SABC1’s youth drama series, Skeem Saam, is looking forward to venturing into the motor sports industry, as it is her first love.

The 17-year-old actress, who attends Boksburg High School, plays the character of Kwaito’s younger sister, who is an “it” girl, who likes gossiping and is basically an outgoing child.

Comparing Marabe’s character on Skeem Saam and her character in real life, Marabe said she is nothing like Pretty, as she is actually very shy, doesn’t have lots of friends and she minds her own business.

Marabe lives in Boksburg North with her mother and brother.

She said life growing up was very hard after her parents divorced.

“Being raised by a single parent has made me appreciate everything my mother did for me, which is why everything I do, I do it for her,” Marabe said.

” I have realised the sacrifices she has made for me to be where I am today. She is my greatest inspiration in life.”

Marabe likes going out to malls, playing netball and attending motor sports events.

“My love for motor sports started way back, while I was still young. People even named me after the car I liked, that was called Bhubesi,” she said.

Her television career dates back to when she was four years old. She appeared in the children’s programme Takalani Sesame, an OMO advert, Cutting Silence, Intersections and Jacobs Cross.

Marabe said managing school work and Skeem Saam has not been easy. Her school work, however, takes priority.
