Emperors Palace gears up for another World Poker Tour

Poker enthusiasts will have an opportunity to up the ante in the upcoming new edition of the World Poker Tour (WPT) National Championship that will be hosted at Emperors Palace for the fourth time.

From April 8 to 17, the Theatre of Marcellus will be alive with adrenaline and all the poker action that is synonymous with the largest poker series on the continent.

During 10 days of intense tournament action, a field of the usual mix of professional poker players and general poker enthusiasts, along with defending champion Wesley Wiegand, will take to the felt to win a share of the impressive prize pool of more than R10 million.

Buy-in for the 10 events leading up to the main event ranges from R1 500 up to R43 500 for the High Roller event. Buy-in for the WPT main event is R11 000.

With the official satellite tournaments already taking place, players who enter for R500 have an opportunity to win a seat in the main event and the High Roller.

“Emperors Palace is honoured to continue our long association with high-stakes poker tournaments, and we are gratified with the benefits of hosting events that positively affect the tourism industry in South Africa,” said Peermont chief operating officer for gaming, Bob Yearham.
