Ambitious Selimathunzi presenter aims sky high with her career

Local girl Tshenolo Seabi is the new face on our television screens and is slowly building a name for herself.

She presents Selimathunzi on SABC1 – a show spotlighting special events and glamorous functions, while highlighting the latest trends, fads and fashions.

Seabi, who lives in Dawn Park, started her TV career last year, as a guest presenter on YoTv, and she has never looked back.

Thinking back to her childhood days, which shaped her to become a 2016 success story, she said home has always been filled with love, care and laughter.

“I had such a happy upbringing, actually thinking about it now brings so much joy to my heart,” Seabi said.

She added that her most cherished childhood memory was of when she was at her grandmother’s house in Soweto.

“I remember my cousins and I were playing barefoot on the street till late – we looked so dirty and smelled, but we didn’t care much,” she said.

Seabi, who attended Dawn Park Primary and Hoërskool Voortrekker, is now completing her final year at the South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance.

“I was shocked when I heard I got the Selimathunzi gig,” she commented.

”To be honest, when I was told that I had the job I was so confused, or, rather, I didn’t know how to react.

“I remember I was in the Selimathunzi office when I found out that I had the job. I looked around and it hit me that I was officially part of the team and that my pictures were going to go up on their walls soon.”

>Seabi said being part of the >Selimathunzi family has, so far, been the best experience ever, as she gets to meet and interview people she has always looked up to and admired.

She also gets to travel, which she absolutely loves.

>Seabi said in the next five years, she sees herself not only presenting on >Selimathunzi, but on other shows as well.

“I also see myself on radio and having a solid acting career shooting sky high,” she added.

According to Seabi, her motto in life is to believe in yourself, because that’s half the battle won.

“I want to advise everyone who has passion for presenting, but hasn’t had the big break, to be patient, passionate and always prepared for everything.

“Be willing and grow some thick skin, because it’s tough in this world and in the entertainment industry,” she said.
