Music legends thrill fans at Birchwood Hotel

Jazz enthusiasts from all over the country packed the Birchwood Hotel’s OR Tambo Conference Centre so they could watch music legends performing at this yaer's final chapter of the monthly Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening.

The event, held on Friday, December 11, drew hundreds of music lovers who were all dressed to thrill.

The revellers of all ages were entertained by cultural activist, Dr Sello Galane, platinum record songstress, Zahara, as well as pantomime actor and musician, Bongi Mtombeni.

For the more modern taste, Dubstep, Electro House DJ Schoolboy used the event to showcase his comedy talent.

The event continued until the early hours of Saturday, December 12.

 

The Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening/ Birchwood Jazz Festival takes place once a month, every second Friday of the month, and features different jazz artists each month.

There will be no festival in January.

The next event is on Friday, February 12.

It will feature a number of leading musicians in the genre of romantic jazz for Valentine’s Day.

The Birchwood Jazz Festival was launched in June 2001 and will celebrate 15 year’s worth of entertainment next year – and will see a number of respected artists descending on Boksburg. -@FanieFLK
