n Robin Pors – Sailor and founder member

n Denise van Rijswijk – Blonde Bombshell

n Donny Latupeirissa – Cowboy

What is your favourite food?

Denise: Fries, with loads of mayonnaise.

Kim: Cucumber.

Donny: Crispy fried baby squid.

Robin: Lobster.

Do you guys like cooking?

Yes, we love to cook.

Denise: My favourite recipe is typically Dutch, it is called Stamppot (English – Mash Pot) – it’s a dish where you have mash potato, mixed with vegetables and meat. You can eat it with loads of gravy.

Kim: I have lots of different favourite dishes. But my favourite is to cook Indonesian. Soto soup – Indonesian Chicken soup and many other Indonesian dishes

Donny: I love my kitchen, but my favourite recipe is rather for drinks than food. I make a mean Mojito cocktail, and I love a Royal Mojito. It is a Mojito with champagne. It makes me feel like summer.

Robin: I don’t cook. I go out for dinner and eat a lot of Lobster.

What upsets you?

Denise: Media interviews (joke). Negative posts on Facebook and animal abuse – it makes us sad.

Kim: When I am in a restaurant and you have to wait very long for your food. I get really, really, really annoyed. And if it gets served, for instance you ordered your beef medium and you get well done.

Donny: I have a very serious answer. I hate anti-gay violence. I really do hate that; and animal cruelty. I also hate that. Be nice to animals and gays!

Robin: I am not a hater. I love everything. I am a positive person.

Who is your hero?

Denise: My hero is my son. He is nine years old and his name is Jaden.

Kim: Mine too. My son is only one year old. He is my little tiny hero.

Donny: My hero, and again it is a serious answer. It’s truly Nelson Mandela. Off course we will be in South Africa and it’s an important person. He is really dear to my heart – a fighter of freedom and equal rights. And may he rest in peace. I think the world really misses him

Robin: I have a few and they are in this room with me. My Vengaboys, they are my heroes. I love you guys!

What makes you happy?

Denise: Being with The Vengaboys; being on stage – party, party, party. It makes me very happy!

Kim: Listening to the song Happy.

Donny: What makes me happy is stupid jokes. We always make stupid jokes. And animal bloopers always make me happy.

Robin: Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll. I don’t need drugs, but it sounds nice. It sounds old school.

What was the most embarrassed moment in your life?

Denise: Well there was one time where I was on stage – I was performing and there was somebody in the crowd. He came on stage and he ripped off my clothes.

Kim: My most embarrassing moment was a result of hers, because I went to that guy and slapped him in the face. He went down and I slapped the guy next to him.

Donny: I am usually not so fast to be embarrassed. But one time with my very first Vengaboys show in 2006, I had to say: “Make some noise with the Vengaboys”, but then I said in front of a huge crowd: “Make some boys for the Venga noise”.

Robin: Oh my goodness. I had a moment where we were performing and we were hyping up the audience and there was one girl just sitting down a bit like leaning on a fence and she was not partying with the rest of the crowd. And I was like: “Darling, are you tired?”, but she was actually in a wheelchair. And that was the most embarrassing thing in my life. I didn’t notice it and when I was back in the dressing room after the show, I wanted to go back when they said: “Robin, she was sitting in a wheelchair”. And I was like: “Oh no, I have to go back”. I wanted to go back and say: “I am sorry darling”, but she was already gone.

What is important to you in life?

Denise: Happiness – being happy and world peace. It’s very important. And then off course my baby boy.

Kim: Health – health is the most important thing to me.

Donny: Be happy in what you do. Focus on the positive things and laugh as much as you can.

Robin: Happiness, health is important and just be who you are and just have fun! And be free!

What is your favourite song?

Denise: Stay with me by Sam Smith

Kim: I got you by Duke Dumont

Donny: Let’s have a Kiki by Scissor Sisters

Robin: Rather be by Clean Bandit
