See The Vengaboys at Carnival City

The European super group, The Vengaboys, will be visiting South Africa in December, to stage four shows only, throughout the country.

They will be at Carnival City on December 12 and 13.

In 1998 the world was introduced to the uplifting sounds of The Vengaboys when they delivered multi-platinum pop-dance hits back-to-back, with Up and Down, We Like To Party!, Boom Boom Boom Boom!, We’re going to Ibiza and many more.

The band reached the top of the charts in over 20 countries, including the UK, Germany, Benelux, Spain, South Africa, Thailand, Poland, Australia and Mexico.

In 1999 it was America’s turn. Up and Down and We Like To Party! stormed to first place in the Billboard dance charts.

Their debut album, Greatest Hits!, reached USA gold status and they were nominated for the MTV Best Breakthrough of the Year award.

To promote the single Kiss (When the sun don’t shine) the group organised a longest kiss world record that currently stands at 29 hours.

The Vengaboys received the TMF Award for Best Dance Act and a prize for being Holland’s most successful export product that year.

And the hits kept coming as Shalala lala, Kiss (When the sun don’t shine) and Uncle John From Jamaica all reached top five status in numerous countries.

The group embarked on a world tour through the US, Australia, Japan and South America.

Then, after releasing a ballad as their goodbye single, they called it quits and were ready for retirement.

Not a really crazy idea after selling 20 million singles and five million albums.

But you know how it is; vacation is nice, but after some time it’s even better to get working again.

And so The Vengaboys have started making music again and touring. – @IschkeBoksburg
