Revellers get ready for the mother of all parties

It's only a few hours before one of South Africa's biggest music festivals, the Ekurhuleni Spring Fiesta, kicks off in Boksburg, where more than 60 international and local musicians will give revellers a weekend to remember.

Thousands of festival-goers from all over Southern Africa are now getting ready to flock to Wild Waters, for the Spring Fiesta event.

The star-studded line-up of artists will showcase the very best of House, Kwaito, Soul, Hip-Hop, Old School and Dance music in the fourth annual Ekurhuleni Spring Fiesta on Saturday, October 4.

The music legends to whip-up the crowd at the event include iconic South African DJ and radio personality, DJ Fresh, and international artist, Seattle-based songstress Portia Monique.

Asked about the status of House music in the country during the Fiesta’s announcement at Emperors Palace on Wednesday, Fresh said: “There’s nothing wrong with House music so you don’t have to worry. I think House music is as good as it can possibly be, it’s like people saying Kwaito is dead, it’s not dead, it’s just evolved.”

Speaking about the event, DJ Euphonik added: “The Spring Fiesta ticks all the boxes compared to other festivals; I’m not saying festivals are bad, but the Spring Fiesta is just world-class.”

According to event director Ricardo Da Costa, this year’s Fiesta will have an album which will be released and found on i-Tunes.

Other acts who will grace the stage are DJ Naves, The Layabouts and DJ Slumza, to list a few. The artists are expected to perform across six diversified stages with more than 15 000 expected at the event.
