12 Years a Slave

The film is based on an incredible true story of one man’s fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War US, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery.

Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender) as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity.

In the 12th year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon’s chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) forever alters his life.

Delivery Man

Starts on Friday, January 17. Genre: Comedy

David Wozniak (Vince Vaughn) has always led a simple life. A delivery driver for his family’s meat company, he is seemingly content, existing in a state of perpetual mediocrity.

While David has a good heart, charming everyone with whom he comes into contact, he is immature, unfocused, in serious debt and in desperate need of some sense of direction in his life. But, when he finds out he is the biological father of 533 children and 142 of them are suing to learn his identity, everything changes and David decides he wants to do the right thing and, for once, be held accountable for his actions.

Paradise

Starts on Friday, January 17. Genre: Comedy, Drama

Lamb Mannerheim’s faith is shaken after a plane crash burns two-thirds of her body, and she shocks her small-town congregation when she publicly renounces God. As she sets out to experience the worldly pleasures of Las Vegas, she meets a bartender and a cynical lounge singer who help her check off as many dirty deeds as possible from her Napkin of Sin bucket list.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Starts on Friday, January 17. Genre: Action, Thriller

This action thriller, directed by Kenneth Branagh, based on the character of Jack Ryan, created by Tom Clancy. The film stars Chris Pine in the title role, making him the fourth actor to assume the role, following Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.

In his new exploit, Ryan works against the clock to stop the crash of the US economy at the hands of Russian villains.

Karle Pyaar Karle

Starts on Friday, January 17. Genre: Bollywood

Karle Pyaar Karle is an adrenaline-gushing, action-packed, edgy love story of two rebels, Kabir and Preet, playing the game of life. The film is the journey of their unrestrained games as they discover themselves and the essence of romance.

Problems rear up as though they are the couple’s destiny – Preet starts believing that they are ill fated and it’s best they should stay away from each other. Kabir firmly believes that only if they are together will they survive. Preet willingly tears herself apart from Kabir, leading them to a point of no return.

They love to dare… But will they dare to love?

Jilla

Starts Friday, January 17. Genre: Tamil

Jilla, the upcoming Tamil movie, is an action comedy directed by R T Nesan. Vijay, Mohanlal and Kajal Aggarwal appear in the lead roles. In the film Mohanlal portrays the role of a Godfather.

He is said to play a respectable head in Madurai, while Vijay is his successor in it.
