Teach your child about circles with this fun bear craft

Teach your little one about circles, build motor skills, lengthen attention span and spark their creativity with this fun bear craft.

At about three years old, your child should be able to identify many shapes. Start by teaching them the most basic shape (circle) with this simple and fun bear activity.

What you need

  • One sheet of light brown-coloured cardboard
  • One medium piece of dark brown-coloured felt
  • One small piece of black-coloured felt
  • One small piece of white-coloured felt
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Black marker
  • Googly eyes or buttons

How to make it

  1. Help your child to build the bear’s head by cutting out one large brown circle from the light-brown cardboard.
  2. Next, cut two medium circles of dark brown-coloured felt for the ears, one white medium circle for the muzzle, one little black circle representing the nose, and two small black circles for the eyes.
  3. Glue the ears behind the largest circle.
  4. To make the bear’s muzzle, glue the medium-sized white circle at the bottom of the face. Glue the black nose to the muzzle’s upper part.
  5. To make the bear’s eyes, glue a pair of tiny black circles above the muzzle. Put googly eyes or buttons in the centre of each circle.
  6. Finally, create the bear’s mouth using a black marker or crayon.

Top tip: Explain to your child that all the shapes you’re using are circles when doing this bear craft, and help them count the circles of various sizes.
