Wet weather doesn’t dampen Gauteng festival spirit

Gauteng racing teams faced a challenging weekend at the Killarney International Raceway for the fifth round of the Gauteng Regional Festival.

Despite the wet conditions, local drivers showed their prowess at the Gauteng Regional Festival held at Killarney on August 10.

Nian du Toit secured a victory in the BMW M Performance Parts class. The Pabar VW Challenge also delivered thrilling action, with Nathan Victor taking the initial win before Jurie Swart claimed victory in the restarted race.

The Mobil1 V8 Supercars and V8 Masters provided excitement, with Julian Fameliaris dominating the Supercar class.

Formula Vee.

The DOE Formula Vee, partnered by CIM Lubricants, saw a strong performance from Peter Hills, who secured a clean sweep of victories.

The Ferro Energia 111 Sports and Saloon category was another highlight, with Phillip Meyer and George Economides battling it out.

The Volkswagen Rookie Cup also delivered close racing, with Judd Bertholdt claiming both races.

BMW racing.

The Laude Classic Car races added to the day’s entertainment with Franco Donadio securing both wins.

The Gauteng Regional Festival will head to Zwartkops on September 14, while the Cape Power Series will return to Killarney on August 31.
