Toyota Starlet Cross: A new compact Crossover star

Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has unveiled the Starlet Cross, a stylish and practical addition to its growing crossover line-up.

Toyota’s new Starlet Cross aims to capture the hearts of compact car enthusiasts while expanding Toyota’s presence in the competitive SUV market.

It offers a blend of style and substance and SUV practicality with the sleekness of a hatchback. Its bold front grille, flanked by LED headlights and daytime running lights, creates a striking first impression. The side profile showcases dynamic lines, while the rear features connected LED taillights and a sporty skid plate. The Starlet Cross offers a spacious interior and a commanding driving position.

Modern interior and advanced technology

The Starlet Cross boasts a contemporary cabin with a three-tone dashboard and high-quality materials. The infotainment system features a large touchscreen compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring seamless connectivity. Comfortable seating and a range of convenience features enhance the overall driving experience.

Performance and efficiency

Powered by a familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine, the Starlet Cross balances performance and fuel efficiency. Drivers can choose between a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. With 77kW and 138Nm, the engine provides adequate acceleration for city driving and highway cruising. Toyota claims impressive fuel consumption figures of 5.6 l/100 km for the manual and 5.8 l/100 km for the automatic.

Safety first

Safety is a top priority for Toyota and the Starlet Cross is equipped with a comprehensive suite of features. Standard across the range, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, and anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake force distribution enhance stability and control. Multiple airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags on the top-spec XR model, provide added protection.

Features and options

The XS and XR variants offer a generous list of features, with the XR model boasting additional amenities such as a head-up display, 360-degree camera, and wireless charging. Customers can choose monochrome and bi-tone colour options to personalise their Starlet Cross.

Ownership confidence

Backed by Toyota’s reputation for reliability and quality, the Starlet Cross comes with a comprehensive warranty and service plan. Toyota’s MyToyota platform offers owners convenient access to vehicle information and services.

Pricing and availability

The Toyota Starlet Cross is now available at Toyota dealerships nationwide, with prices starting from R299 900. Its stylish design, practical features, and fuel efficiency make it a compelling option in the competitive compact crossover segment.
