Despite its luxurious taste, it’s incredibly easy to prepare, making it a go-to for both novice and experienced mixologists alike.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml gin
  • 22 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 15 ml simple syrup
  • 120 ml champagne
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twist, for garnish
  • Salt (to rim the glass)

Method

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, fresh lemon juice, and simple syrup. Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
  2. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
  3. Strain the mixture into a chilled martini or champagne glass. To salt rim the glass, moisten the rim with a lime or lemon wedge, then dip it into a plate of coarse salt, ensuring an even coating.
  4. Slowly top off the glass with champagne, pouring gently to preserve the bubbles.
  5. Add a few blocks of ice.
  6. Garnish with a strip of lemon zest to add a hint of citrus aroma.
