Bok flyer gives thumbs up

Kurt-Lee Arendse is recovering after successful surgery for a fractured cheekbone.

Kurt-Lee Arendse has given an update on his injury after the Springbok and Vodacom Bulls flyer underwent surgery on a fractured cheekbone.

Arendse was rushed to hospital following a head knock during Saturday’s win for the Bulls against Benetton.

He scored a brace of tries as Jake White’s troops beat the Italian tourists 30-23 in Pretoria to earn a Vodacom URC home semi-final this week.

The 27-year-old gave an update on his condition on social media, posting that the operation was successful as he now recovers before undergoing his rehab work.

Arendse is among a handful of injured Bok world champions as Rassie Erasmus prepares for their first Test of 2024 against Wales at Twickenham on June 22.

As it stands, the Boks have plenty of cover at wing and fullback, with the uncapped Edwill van der Merwe and Quan Horn joining Aphelele Fassi, Cheslin Kolbe, Grant Williams, Jesse Kriel and Makazole Mapimpi in a 35-man training squad.
