Plum streusel, the perfect sweet treat for sunny days

This recipe for plum streusel serves 6-8 and includes a simple base, juicy plum filling, and a crumbly streusel topping. It’s straightforward to prepare and perfect for those looking to enjoy a homemade dessert without too much fuss. Recipe compliments of Juicy Delicious.

Ingredients

The base

  • 100g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 6 Tbsp milk
  • 6 Tbsp oil
  • 1 medium egg
  • 400g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp melted butter

For the plums

  • 1 kg plums without the stones, cut into quarters
  • 3 Tbsp cornflour
  • 2 Tbsp honey
  • ¾ tsp mixed spice

For the streusel

  • 180g butter
  • 200g sugar
  • 300g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Method

The base

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Place all ingredients for the base into the bowl of your food processor and using the dough hook mix to a dough.
  3. Roll the dough out and line a 23 cm baking tin with the dough.
  4. Brush the melted butter over.

For the plums

  1. Toss the ingredients for the plums together.
  2. Arrange on top of the prepared base.

For the streusel

  1. Place all the ingredients into the bowl of a food processor and pulse till crumbly.
  2. Spoon over the plums in the prepared base.
  3. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
