Enter the Strawberry Jalapeño Mint Julep, a cocktail that combines the traditional charm of a Mint Julep with the tantalising flavours of strawberries and jalapeños.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml bourbon whiskey
  • 4-6 fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2-3 slices of jalapeño (adjust to your preferred spice level)
  • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
  • 15 ml simple syrup
  • Crushed ice

Method

  1. In a julep cup or glass, add the sliced strawberries, jalapeño slices, and mint leaves.
  2. Muddle these ingredients gently to release the flavours without over-mixing.
  3. Add the bourbon and simple syrup to the glass, followed by crushed ice. Stir to combine.
  4. Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint and a strawberry slice.
  5. Optionally, you can add an additional jalapeño slice for garnish to signify the cocktail’s spicy nature.
  6. Serve with a straw and enjoy.
