The new Mercedes AMG models unveiled

Mercedes AMG updated the GLE SUV and Coupé models, delivering an exceptional combination of style, performance and luxury. Read to find out more about these innovative changes.

Mercedes AMG has unveiled the updated GLE SUV and Coupé models.

The changes are instantly noticeable, with the newly designed LED daytime running lights in the front. The ‘53’ models boast a revised front apron with strikingly shaped side air intakes, resembling the iconic jet wing design, bringing them closer in appearance to the eight-cylinder models.

The rear is adorned with updated LED tail lamps. Notably, the front fascia now proudly displays the AMG emblem, replacing the Mercedes star, setting the standard for all upcoming AMG vehicles.

More extensive standard equipment

An essential aspect of this update is the carefully considered standard equipment that aligns with customer preferences. As a result, the standard equipment for the GLE 53 4MATIC+ SUV is notably more comprehensive than that of its predecessor. This includes features like the electric panoramic sliding sunroof, heated front seats, adaptive highbeam assist and smartphone integration.

Furthermore, this model incorporates the AMG Performance exhaust system, Burmester sound system, memory package, 360-degree parking pilot, Keyless Go package, and blind spot assist. The latest AMG Performance steering wheel is included, featuring intuitive controls for driving functions and modes. It can also be heated and comes in a carbon fibre look.

The GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé takes it up a notch with an even more generous standard equipment list.

This model includes climate control for the front seats, MBUX Augmented Reality function, and multibeam LED headlamps. For this Coupé, the list is further enhanced with the Air Balance package, multi-contour front seats, and a head-up display. It also features the MBUX Interior Assistant, temperature-controlled cupholders, and a logo projector with an AMG-specific animation when the front doors open.

Electrified engines and enhanced suspension

The GLE 53 4MATIC+ effortlessly combines sportiness with practicality. The exterior design exudes a stronger AMG identity. It retains the robust 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine with twin turbochargers, offering 320kW of power. Thanks to a software update and a larger turbocharger, the engine now produces 560Nm of torque, providing a more responsive and agile driving experience.

The GLE 53 4MATIC+ SUV accelerates from zero to 100km/h in just five seconds, offering a dynamic performance upgrade. On the other hand, the GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ is a true embodiment of AMG driving performance, delivering extreme sportiness while maintaining off-road capabilities and daily usability. Equipped with the proven 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine generating 450kW, it ensures powerful propulsion.

Both engines are electrified with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a 48-volt electrical system. The ISG performs various hybrid functions, enhancing efficiency and performance.

All AMG GLE models share the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive and the AMG ride control+ air suspension with adaptive adjustable damping. The ‘63’ models come standard with AMG active ride control roll stabilisation, offering a dynamic driving experience. It reduces body roll during cornering and enhances turn-in ability and load change behaviour. Additionally, ride comfort on uneven surfaces is improved, striking a balance between dynamic handling and comfort.

Pricing and final thoughts

Mercedes AMG GLE models remain unrivaled in the performance SUV segment, combining luxury, technology and pure driving power. With additional features and innovative technology, these cars set new standards.
