Organiser and club chairman, Frik Kraamwinkel says that it’s the fourth time the show rolled into Loftus and that his love for restoring cars contributed heavily to his involvement.

“My favourite part is the restoring because it gives you a sense of satisfaction, it’s not always an easy job, you have to think, you have to ask people and make plans. But when it’s done, it’s very satisfying,” Kraamwinkel says.

A classic car lover for over 12 years, Frik is the owner of a 1975 Chevy c20, just one of the six cars he owns along with his sons including a Ford Thunderbird among others.

The show itself also boasts a large variety of vehicles for residents to view. From Chevys to Mustangs, GMCs, Chryslers, and Porches, enthusiasts and novices were all in for a treat.

Attendee Mitchell Charlton of Charlton’s Customs and Classics says he enjoys keeping the classics alive and intends to rebuild a classic owned by a beloved late actor in the future.

“My car here today is a Ford Cera XL 6 1984, and I have had it for about five months now and have been really enjoying it,” Charlton says.

“I want to build a few more, I guess I’m a Ford guy. My next project is Ford Escort Mark 1, same one as Paul Walker’s, I want to build a replica.”

Caroline Tarea, marketing manager at Loftus says that clubs and residents are welcome any time.

“We support the spirit, enthusiasm and culture that the Pretoria Old Motor Club has for cars so we love being the venue for them to express that and intend to help out when we can,” Tarea says.
