Toiné Liebenberg (14) recently won the Acrobatic Federation SA (AFSA) intermediate championship, scoring a 98,5 in her modern and acrobatic examination.

She was also awarded a R1 000 bursary by the AFSA.

“I enjoy dancing in this academy and I am just overwhelmed I won.”

Her mother Toinette said dancing had always been her daughter’s passion.

“She’s very talented. She does ballet, lyrical, contemporary, modern jazz, acrobatic… I can go on the whole day,” said Toinette.

“She doesn’t do anything but dancing. I’ve seen how she has grown as a dancer, and I’m very proud of her.”

Dance teacher Celia de Abreuaid said Toiné had shown dedication and worked hard for her award.

“I see a bright future for her as a dancer.”

“She is very dedicated and always willing to learn.”

De Abreuaid said she looked further to training Toiné as she grew into a senior dancer.
