Hundreds of wine enthusiasts at annual capital city show
The who’s who and A-list wineries showcased a premium range reflecting their icon wines and the new kids on the block.
If you were in Pretoria this weekend but did not go to the second annual Capital City Wine show on Friday and Saturday then you missed out.
Hundreds of wine enthusiasts flocked to the Capital Menlyn Maine hotel for the two-day wine show with about 43 exhibitors and a variety of 200 wines.
Wine lovers were spoilt for choice from your Shiraz, Grenache, Cinsaut, Malbec, Merlot you name it.
Most of the wines exhibited were proudly South African with only a few from Italy, France and other parts of the world.
The who’s who and A-list wineries showcased a premium range reflecting their icon wines and the new kids on the block.

“New exhibitors Cape Diamond Wines, Lammershoek, Mensa and Survivor introduced their innovative brands, while Da Luca, Reciprocal Wines and Vini Italia presented their international cuvées and sparkling for visitor tastings,” said organiser Janice Fridjhon.
She said Pretoria wine lovers who attended the inaugural show last year enjoyed a wide range of wines like Boekenhoutskloof, Bonnievale, Fat Bastard, Glen Carlou, Glenelly, Hill&Dale, Jordan, Krone, Neethlingshof, Overgaauw, Rijk’s Robertson Wines, Saronsberg and Spier.
Wine lovers also had the chance to nibble on “foodies” selected for wine compatibility which included sushi, biltong, chocolates, imported salmon and foie gras and more.
