INTERNATIONAL NEWS: Kylie Jenner dents Snapchat share price

When she tweets about a product, tweets prepare for her millions of followers to listen.

Reality television star Kylie Jenner appears to be quite influential on social media.

When she tweets about a product, brands prepare for her 24.5 million followers to listen, The Los Angeles Times reported.

On Thursday the star tweeted that she “is over Snapchat”, describing this as “sad.”

Los Angeles Times said Jenner helped send shares of Snap Inc. down more than six percent after she tweeted disapproval of the redesign.

Snapchat is an application whereby one could put together videos and pictures with funny, animated filter and send it to contacts.

Jenner’s tweet sparked a sell-off that saw Snap shares shed weeks of gains to close at $17.51 (R203.29) reported the Los Angeles Times.

Kylie Jenner is the youngest sister of the Kardashian family.

Snap co-founder and Chief Executive Evan Spiegel had brushed aside the criticism about his app’s new look.

“One of the complaints we got was, ‘Wow, I used to feel like this celebrity was my friend, and now they don’t feel like my friend anymore’. And we’re like: ‘Exactly. They’re not your friend.’ So for us, even some of the frustrations we’re seeing really validate those changes. And it’ll take time for people to adjust,” Spiegel said at a Goldman Sachs technology conference in San Francisco last week, the Guardian reported.
