Sun City is putting on a South African-inspired festival of note to mark Heritage weekend on 23 and 24 September, from 11:00 to 18:00 daily, with proudly South African food, culture and family styled entertainment throughout the two days in its expansive Sun Park.

One of the highlights of Sun City’s Heritage Day celebrations is elastic faced, king of clean comedy, Barry Hilton’s latest show, Nou Gaan ons Braai. Fans can brace themselves for some lekker local comedy to mark what has become known as National Braai Day. A stalwart of South African comedy, Hilton is known to several generations as a gentleman comic and a master craftsman with flawless timing, an unpredictable hairline and a gaze that doesn’t miss a thing. The day before there will be a host of proudly South African entertainment, including a show by Tips Mpho and performances by DJ Dave Cohen and Tokyo Groove.

Visitors are urged to dress in their traditional attire to celebrate South Africa’s diverse cultures and traditions. In keeping with the spirit of Heritage Day, traditional cuisines from braai food and potjiekos to curry and biltong will be on offer in a market style setting. Traditional dancers will welcome guests on arrival and there will be live bands and DJs to keep guests entertained.

September is also Tourism month when we celebrate the importance and contribution of tourism to the local economy. There will be an array of vibrant entertainment during the month, offering guests loads of opportunity to create memorable moments,” says Raul de Lima, Sun City Resort general manager.

The Heritage day celebration forms part of Sun City’s Memorable Moments campaign which runs until the end of the year in celebration of the new season. Memorable Moments features a spectacular lineup of shows and entertainment – such as Oktoberfest, Diwali, and Halloween – value added accommodation packages, enticing food promotions, and thrilling gaming promotions.
