Online dating tips for professionals

Consider these tips when looking for love online.

1. Get the timing right

Generally when you see someone’s online profile on a dating site and you like what you see, ask him or her out immediately.

Get your timing right. If you ask the person out, and you schedule the date a week or two in advance, the dater is going to think you’re seeing other people on the side.

2. Keep it clean

Neither men nor women should ever mention their physical characteristics or their body parts in an introductory message.

Young professionals are usually looking for someone they can relate and talk to on a deeper level and women are easily scared away online. You should avoid saying anything remotely controversial or predatory.

3. Don’t come across as insecure

Don’t show your hesitation to being on a dating site on your profile or in the messages to someone.

They might just think you’re insecure and won’t be much interested.

4. Get a hint

If a potential dater is not interested in you, do the bigger thing and stay away. You’ll quickly see if someone is really into you or not. Do not keep on messaging the dater if he or she does not respond.

5. No pressure

Do not pressure someone into taking down their online dating profile. Nothing scares off a person more.

Obviously if and when the relationship becomes official, both parties can discuss taking it down.

6. Be unique

Try something different if you want to attract the attention of someone. By sending generic messages like “Hi, how are you doing?” might just bore someone. Try looking up what their interests are on their profile and go from there.
