CHOC Children’s Carnival

Venue: LC de Villiers Grounds

Date: 04/10/2015

Times: 10:00 – 15:00

The children’s carnival is a fun filled day for the whole family with a wide range of exciting activities such as community drumming sessions, arts and craft market, fantastic raffle  prizes, amazing game stalls etc I am hoping that the ‘Bulletjie Rugby’ or the youth rugby development team would consider setting up an activity stand on the day that provides your group the opportunity to interact with the general public and would be very popular amongst the children.

The key aim of the CHOC Children’s Carnival is to raise awareness for childhood cancer and to increase the visibility of CHOC amongst the local community. Globally childhood cancer is on the rise and it is estimated that one in four hundred and eight children worldwide will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 16. In developed countries childhood cancer is largely curable, with the overall survival rate reaching between 70% and 80%, or higher. Sadly in South Africa it is estimated that less than half of children are being diagnosed, and of those diagnosed, most are in late stages.  CHOC is passionate to ensure an upwards survival rate by promoting the early warning signs of childhood cancer which will lead to early detection and referral of children in the earlier stages to the specialised paediatric oncology units.
