INTERNATIONAL NEWS: Pedigree cat held to ransom

A cat in London was kidnapped and held to randsom of almost R100 000.

A pedigree cat was held to ransom for £5,000 by a gang of Eastern Europeans after it went missing from its home.

The cat’s owners, Nigel Meadows, 62, and Carol MacArthur, 63, were devastated when their cat, Maggie disappeared from their home in London.

The couple put up fliers around the area offering a R950 (£50) reward for information or her return, but two days later they received an upsetting call from a man using a private number demanding close to R100 000 (£5,000).
