Harry and the Gupta to keep you in stitches

Don’t miss Harry and the Gupta at Carnival City on September 7 and 8.

South African entertainment legends Vikash Mathura and Jack Devnarain have for the first time ever teamed up on stage with their hysterical comedy show Harry & the Gupta, and are bringing the tour to Carnival City in September.

The two have been friends for over 30 years and have shared a mutual admiration for each other’s work, but have never collaborated on a project like this before.

In Harry and the Gupta, Mathura, of Peru and Bala fame, reprises his role of “Harry”- a brash Durban entrepreneur who has become a favourite among many theatre patrons. Devnarain, of Isidingo fame, plays the role of suave and infamous businessman, “Rajesh Gupta”, a character who has not exactly endeared himself to the South African public.

The show is set in the mythical Saxonwold Shebeen, where the story begins with Harry (Durban’s ‘Con of Cons’) meeting Rajesh (Joburg’s ‘Don of Dons’) for the first time.

Their chance encounter results in a series of comical misunderstandings.

The show then takes the audience on a hilarious journey as these protagonists discuss anecdotes from their respective lives while sharing a drink…or three.
