Palesa’s Afro jazz fusion talent shines through
Afro jazz fusion singer Palesa Ndima turned her back on her career to raise her three children but now she’s back to ignite her passion for music.
She has recently released her new album, titled Ke Ngwana mo Africa, meaning “African child”.
Ndima (42) is a God fearing woman from Dawn Park.
She was born in Vosloorus and was raised by her single mother who took care of her and her three siblings after their father died when Palesa was 13.
The songstress, who describes herself as an affable person, enjoys watching documentaries and news and enjoys cooking.
Palesa started singing, in church, when she was seven.
“I used to go with my grandmother to church, and when I was a little bit older I joined the church choir and from there I never turned back. I realised the talent in me when I was praised for my voice, so I decided to venture into music,” Palesa said.
The singer said her husband persuaded her to release a gospel album, titled Ezulwini. meaning ‘heaven’, but her efforts failed.
“I faced numerous challenges so I decided to give up pursuing a musical career. Years later, I suddenly had this burning desire to return to music.
“Through the grace of God I had the strength to face my fears of failure. I am now a recording artist and I’m stronger than ever before,” she said.
Palesa said her faith in God, family and her confidence in her abilities keep her going.

Some of the challenges Palesa has faced in her music career are recording and distribution costs and air play.
She hopes to be working with big international stars in the future.
Palesa is also a student at the University of South Africa where she is studying tourism management.
