A sensory delight at the Family, Food and Fragrance Festival

Designed to delight the senses, the first annual Family, Food and Fragrance Festival is set to take place in the gardens at the D’oreale Grande Hotel, at Emperors Palace, over the Mother’s Day weekend, on May 7 and 8.

Presented in association with AJK51, the festival is a unique fusion of flavours and fragrance that will appeal to connoisseurs and fanatics alike.

Visitors will be able to enjoy delectable tastes of dishes from top foodies, local wineries and breweries, samples of enchanting perfumes, live entertainment and delightful surprises galore.

Visitors will be able to indulge their taste buds with signature dishes and appetizers from some of the most popular chefs and food chains.

Children are also in for a sweet treat, with Dipped and Dusted Chocolate Workshops, where they can set free their inner chocolatiers. At these workshops children can create handmade goodies using moulds, melted chocolate, sprinkles and more.

Foodie lovers and wannabe chefs will be thrilled to know that food blogger, author and TV host, Sarah Graham, will entertain visitors with a one hour interactive cooking class in the Chef’s Theatre, on May 7 at 3pm, and on May 8 at 11.30am and 3.30pm.

Each cooking class will be followed by a 30-minute book signing and photograph session. Space is limited and can be booked by contacting Michelle at AJK51 on 078 294 9282, or by emailing to michelle@ajk51.co.za.

Some of the exclusive concepts of the festival include aroma theatres, scent tunnels and scent hunts.

In the aroma theatres, visitors will be able to experiment and blend their own fragrant diffusers and perfumes. The scent tunnels promise to be an out-of-this-world sensory adventure, with whiffs and sounds of elements such as Mother Nature, the earth, fragrant grass, birds, the beach, piña coladas and crashing waves.

There will also be beauty treatments, trinkets and treats in abundance for mothers by best-of-breed brands, cosmetic houses and perfumeries.

In addition, there will be ongoing amusement for kids, fun play areas and scent hunts that will reward them for tracking down and identifying favourite smells.

The event will be held from 10.30am to 5.30pm on Saturday, and from 10.30am to 5pm on Sunday.

Tickets must be purchased to enter.
