Great entertainment on offer at Live Arts Little Theatre

The Live Arts Little Theatre (LALT) has an exciting May programme in store for theatre lovers, with an intriguing line-up of shows from May 7 to 28.

On Saturday, May 7, motivational speaker Leroux van Vuuren (KykNET Kokkedoor) will be motivating at 10am.

The following weekend, Friday and Saturday (May 13 and 14) will be the turn of the popular Rocco de Villiers, live in concert at 8pm.

From May 21 to 28, Goue Lokkies en die Drie Bere will be staged at 10am.

A National Arts Association drama judges’ course will be held at the theatre on May 27 and 28.

LALT is currently the only community theatre on the entire East Rand. It opened in 2012 to capture the creativity the East Rand has to offer.

The 130-seater cabaret-style theatre has hosted some of the biggest entertainment sensations, including Adam, Jan Blohm, Nianell, Rocco de Villiers and, most recently, its first international star, the UK’s Ceri Dupree.

This warehouse-turned-theatre is fast changing the face of what theatre used to be.

With its upmarket vibe and industrial feel, it aims to make theatre affordable and accessible to all.

Artists in Boksburg have been facing many challenges since the closing of the town’s last remaining theatrical venue, The Old Post Office Theatre.

Many local actors struggle to attend events at theatres located outside Boksburg due to safety and travelling concerns.

The theatre is self-funded and has bridged the gap to provide young talented performers with the facility.

The theatre’s acting school also offers a sponsorship programme, where local businesses sponsor a student to attend their acting classes with qualified coaches and leading industry professionals.
