Classics galore at i’Langa Mall in Mbombela

June 20 presented Nelspruiters with a delightfully warm winter's day that encouraged many to visit the annual Father's Day vintage and classic car exhibition at i'langa Mall.

Organised by Lowveld Old Wheels, the event brought some 80 vintage and classic cars out from under the covers to celebrate dads, big engines, beautiful designs and solidly built quality. Although the various clubs have regular monthly outings and drives, gathering like this offers a wonderful opportunity to engage and banter about family, health, and the latest acquisition or those parts that have now, after many months, arrived and a restoration project can proceed.

When last have you seen a 1965 Humber Super Snipe Mark IV? This one belongs to Ferdi Lourens.

Most of these enthusiasts and collectors have a number of car projects at home and often when I have visited them, I wondered about when, and if, these would ever be completed. But hey, they feel about these projects like I feel about my favourite pair of Crocs – in need of repair or replacement, but I am not at all ready to chuck them out just yet!
