Man killed during fight over ex-girlfriend in Limpopo

A man arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend’s former partner is under police guard in hospital.

Capricorn District SAPS arrested a 30-year-old male in connection with the murder of a man (35) on Monday in Mokwasele village in Limpopo.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says police received a complaint about two men who were fighting and stabbing each other. The attacker is believed to be the current boyfriend of the victim’s ex-girlfriend.

“Upon arrival, they found the victim lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds [to] the upper body.”

Emergency Medical Services declared the victim dead on the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was at his residence when the suspect approached him and started to argue with him.

The two men started fighting and the suspect allegedly took out a sharp object, stabbed the victim and fled the scene on foot.

“An immediate manhunt for the suspect was launched and he was apprehended the same day while trying to flee from his residence in Sebayeng,” says Ledwaba.

The suspect, who was injured during the fight, is in hospital under police guard, he adds.

Police investigations are continuing.
