3 arrested in Port Shepstone in connection with Lusikisiki massacre

A tip-off from a community member led to the arrest of suspects wanted in connection with a mass shooting.

Police this morning arrested three suspects wanted in connection with the massacre of 18 people in Lusikisiki in the Eastern Cape.

KZN SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says the suspects were arrested in an intelligence-led operation by the Port Shepstone K9 and Public Order Policing officers.

“Police received a tip-off from a community member that the wanted suspects were hiding at a rented accommodation at Mkholombe informal settlement in Port Shepstone. A swift operation was put in motion and the three suspects, aged 22, 24 and 31, were arrested,” he says.

Netshiunda adds that the operation is ongoing and police are heading to Kokstad in search of a firearm, which the suspects allegedly used in the commission of the crime.
