Video: Eskom restores 75% of accessible outages caused by KZN snow storm

Technicians of the power utility are still being hampered by road closures in several parts of the province.

Eskom said its technicians have been working around the clock to repair faults caused by the heavy rain and snowfalls that affected KZN over the weekend.

Joyce Zingoni from the power utility’s Industry Support and Stakeholder Management issued a statement saying that 75% of the outages have been cleared in areas that were accessible.

“Technicians are on standby to attend to faults in areas where access is being hampered due to road closures. In the meantime, helicopter patrols have assisted in identifying the nature of the faults and where they are located.

“Eskom appeals for patience from our customers as restoration may take longer than usual,” she said.

Areas still severely impacted:

  • Umgeni
  • Bulwer
  • Ixopo
  • Estcourt
  • Ladysmith
  • Colenso
  • Bergville
  • Nottingham Road
  • Mooi River
  • Umgeni
  • Kokstad
  • Underberg
  • Kamberg

She urged the public to report faults or damaged infrastructure following Eskom’s various customer service channels through the MyEskom Customer app, Alfred the Chatbot and the Eskom Contact Centre (08600 ESKOM / 37566).
