N3 closed: Truck crash brings Van Reenen’s Pass to a standstill
People travelling on or towards Van Reenen’s pass are in for a wait as the N3 is closed.
A truck crash on Van Reenen’s Pass has brought traffic to a standstill, forcing the closure of the N3 highway in both directions.
The accident, involving two trucks, happened near Van Reenen, between Ladysmith and Harrismith.
TrafficSA says the crash resulted in a significant spill and fuel leak onto the roadway.
Emergency services are at the scene.
Thania Dhoogra, the chief operating officer of N3 Toll Concession, says traffic is stacked in both directions as crews work to contain the spill and recover the wreckage.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area until further notice,” says Dhoogra.
There is no estimated time for the road’s reopening.
