Gang violence: Man shot dead while having refreshments in JHB park

Two men were shot in a gang-related attack at a park in Johannesburg while having refreshments.

The police in Moffat View in southern Johannesburg are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder after two men were shot at a park in South Hills yesterday.

Moffat View SAPS Station Commander, Colonel Shunny Govender, says that the victims from Westbury were in the area for a visit.

“The victims were relaxing in the park and having beers when they were approached by two males who shot them with 9mm pistols,” he said.

Govender said paramedics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Johannesburg General Hospital in a stable condition. The deceased’s body was taken to the Johannesburg Mortuary.

Police have confirmed that the incident is gang-related. No arrests have been made at this stage.
