Westville resident shot in alleged home invasion
Emergency services and police attended to a man who was shot by intruders. An upper-body gunshot wound has him in critical condition.
A resident of Westville, Durban, is in critical condition after being shot during an alleged home invasion yesterday afternoon.
ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says they responded to multiple calls about a shooting on Baden Road.
“Paramedics arrived at the scene, where SAPS and security personnel were already present. They were directed into the house, where the homeowner, a man in his 50s, had reportedly been shot by intruders,” adds Jamieson.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body and was in critical condition. Advanced Life Support paramedics stabilised him at the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unknown, and SAPS has launched an investigation.
