Ekurhuleni man shot and killed in his car

People who heard gunshots while watching the rugby match between the Springboks and All Blacks looked out their window and saw a car in which a deceased man was found.

The police are investigating a case of murder after a man was shot fatally on Trichardts Road in Cinderella, Ekurhuleni, on Saturday night.

According to Ekurhuleni district police spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the man was found dead in a white Renault Sandero Stepway.

“The police responded to a scene where a white car was parallel parked with the lights on. Inside was a man in the driver’s seat who looked dead. The rear windscreen was smashed, and there was a sign of a rifle bullet hole,” says Sekgobela.

The man was certified dead on the scene and identified by his wife.

Sekgobela says the motive for the shooting is unknown.

The Boksburg Advertiser visited the scene on Sunday.

A neighbour described the incident as terrifying.

“We were watching the rugby match between South Africa and New Zealand when we suddenly heard gunshots. We did not know where they came from. A few moments later, we looked outside the window and saw the car,” the neighbours said.

According to neighbours, the victim lived a few houses away from where he was found.
