3 arrested after chase leads to crash near Durban

Multiple car-breaking implements, as well as a signal jammer, were found by law enforcement after the arrests.

Three suspects were arrested yesterday afternoon after a high-speed chase ended in a crash on Queen Nandi Drive near Durban.

Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell confirms the incident occurred around 13:40.

A search of the suspects’ getaway vehicle revealed various car-breaking tools, computer boxes used for stealing vehicles, and a signal jammer designed to block vehicle-tracking systems.

“Members of Marshall Security’s Special Operations Team (SOT) received information about a high-speed pursuit involving a white VW Polo on Queen Nandi Drive in the Riverhorse Valley area. SAPS initiated the pursuit, and our team, being nearby, immediately responded to assist.

“In a desperate attempt to evade capture, the suspects attempted a sharp right turn at the intersection of Queen Nandi Drive and Hippo Park Avenue but lost control, colliding with one of our SOT vehicles. Despite their efforts to flee, all three suspects were quickly apprehended in a co-ordinated operation. They, along with their vehicle and the recovered items, were transported to Newlands East SAPS for further investigation and processing,” explains Powell.

She adds that none of their officers sustained serious injuries during the collision.
