The head-on collision on the R622 Greytown Road yesterday has claimed the lives of 11 people, including a Michaelhouse pupil and his parents.

Midlands EMS crews said they responded with other emergency services to a horrific scene with 11 people showing no signs of life and being declared dead on-site.

The Witness reported that, among the dead were the Grade 8 Michaelhouse pupil and his parents, who were travelling home after attending a sevens rugby game.

The sole survivor from one of the vehicles, a 12-year-old boy, was found in critical condition. He was placed on a manual ventilator at the scene before being rushed to a specialist hospital for further care.

This boy is believed to be the brother of the deceased pupil.
