Watch: Senior MK Party members show support for Jacob Zuma

Floyd Shivambu is among the party's leadership present to show their support to the former president in his arms deal corruption pre-trial.

Senior members of the Mkhonto weSizwe (MK Party) are present at the Pietermaritzburg High Court today for former president Jacob Zuma’s arms deal corruption pre-trial.

Among those attending are the party’s national organiser, Floyd Shivambu, who recently defected from the EFF, where he served as deputy president.

Carry Ngcobo, the media and communication officer for the MK Party’s Moses Mabhida region, said it was crucial for both national and regional leadership to be in court to support Zuma.

“The presence of the national leadership here also signifies to everyone that there is unity within the party,” Ngcobo said.

She added that hundreds of MK Party supporters were expected at Market Square outside the court, where senior leaders would address the crowd this afternoon.

“At the moment, president Jacob Zuma and other party leaders are scheduled to address the crowds following his pre-trial appearance,” Ngcobo said.
