Mpumalanga siblings accused of killing father to apply for bail

A 71-year-old man who was previously granted a protection order against his children, was found with gunshot wounds.

Three of the four siblings accused of killing their father appeared in the Balfour Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli stated that no charges have been laid against the fourth sibling, and she has since been released.

“The three accused: Pat (45), Nnana (36), and Mamotseki Molefe (45), remain in custody, and the investigation is ongoing,” he says.

The siblings, three sisters and a brother, were arrested in Heidelberg, Gauteng, on the same day that community members discovered the body of their 71-year-old father on a couch in his residence in Balfour. It was discovered around 11:00 on Saturday.

Mdhluli confirms that police officers and medical personnel were called to the scene.

“The father had multiple visible gunshot wounds and was certified dead by paramedics. A murder case was opened, and the investigative team immediately began their inquiry. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had previously applied for and was granted a protection order against his children,” he explains.

Mdhluli notes that empty cartridges were found at the scene.

The matter was postponed for a formal bail application next week Tuesday.
